Q: Why should I send my data offsite? A: Customers have learned that the traditional tape backup is not enough to insure your accounting data will be recoverable when needed. The BW Backup solution adds another layer of protection and ease of recovery.
Q: Where does my data actually go? A: Peace of Mind Software contracted with a Level 5 Certified IBM Data Center located in Louisville, Kentucky. Level 5 Certification has only been awarded to seven data centers nationwide.
Q: Is my data secure at this site? A: Your data is secured with 128 bit US government approved AES encryption. We use the Rijndael block cypher encryption algorithm. Click here for a technical description. The encryption is automatically generated at your PC when you select the backup set to send offsite. You may choose to encrypt your backup using this same encryption algorithm on your PC.
Q: How do I access my backups from the offsite location? A: Built in to BW Backup 6, choose the Offsite Backup panel to retrieve the backups. You will need to know the BW Backup password to decrypt the file before restoring it.
Q: What if I don’t know the password? A: You must have the password to decrypt the backup file. This is for your security. We recommend that you keep the password stored – consider giving it to your BusinessWorks reseller.
Q: How long does it take to get back up and running? A: Within minutes -- after the backup file is downloaded from the offsite location, you will simply restore that file using the Sage BusinessWorks Restore command.
Q: Can I try it before I buy? A: Yes, a 30 day evaluation of BW Backup and the Offsite option is available at www.pomsoftware.com.
Q: How much does this offsite option cost? A: Does $1 per day seem reasonable for you to restore your data from any location where you have internet access? Yes, you can buy peace of mind. |
